Bundaran HI
RR4F+264, RT.1/RW.5, Menteng, Central Jakarta City, Jakarta 10310, Indonesia
Located in the heart of Bundaran HI with direct mall access and a Bali-resort-style outdoor pool, it is an ideal spot for a city getaway.
Grand Hyatt Jakarta sits directly across from the iconic Bundaran HI, offering a prime location with seamless access to the Plaza Indonesia shopping mall. Its central position makes it a practical choice for both business and leisure. During the year-end season, the lobby is transformed with a large Christmas tree and festive decor, capturing the warm, vibrant holiday spirit common in Southeast Asia.
As a Globalist member, the perks significantly elevated my stay. I enjoyed flexible access to both the Club Lounge and the main restaurant for breakfast. On my final day, I was upgraded to a Grand Suite overlooking Bundaran HI, which provided a perfect vantage point to take in the cityscape. Between the reasonable room rates, well-maintained accommodations, diverse breakfast spread, and an outdoor pool that feels like a Bali resort, the service level is consistently high. It is easily one of the most recommendable hotels for anyone visiting Jakarta.
We spent our first two nights in a Club Access King room before being upgraded to a Grand Suite with a Bundaran View for our final night as a Globalist benefit. The suite followed the classic Grand Hyatt layout with a separate living room and bedroom; it was spacious enough to accommodate a rollaway bed while still offering plenty of room to relax or work. The window seat and cozy armchair were perfect for taking in the Jakarta city views, and the marble bathroom, with its double vanities and separate soaking tub, was very convenient. Note that due to the central location, Bundaran-view rooms can experience some traffic and motorcycle noise late into the night. If you prefer a quieter environment, rooms facing the pool are a much better choice.
The Club Lounge at Grand Hyatt Jakarta provided a highly satisfying experience for us as Globalists. The staff, both inside and outside the lounge, were attentive and friendly. With services ranging from breakfast to afternoon tea and evening cocktails, it was a great place to unwind. A unique feature of this lounge is that it includes a dedicated indoor smoking area.
The afternoon tea service runs from noon to 4:30 PM and features light refreshments like cakes and cookies. It was a wonderful time to enjoy coffee while overlooking the Jakarta skyline from the quiet lounge.
The happy hour, held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, offers enough variety—including sushi, kimbap, and chicken dishes—to serve as a light dinner. We were particularly impressed by the premium alcohol selection, including Appleton Rum, Jack Daniel's, and East Indies Gin. The staff also prepared and served cocktails to our table upon request. Given the high cost of alcohol in Indonesia, the lounge access is a significant Globalist benefit.
This was a highlight of our stay. As Globalists, we had the flexibility to choose between the Club Lounge and the main restaurant for breakfast. From the second day on, we opted for the main restaurant due to its much wider selection. The spread was excellent, featuring local Indonesian dishes like Bakso (meatball noodle soup), fresh salads, made-to-order pancakes, Nutella croissants, and even an ice cream station for children. The made-to-order fresh vegetable salads and the strawberry banana smoothies were particularly memorable.
Despite being in the heart of the city, the outdoor pool area feels like a Bali resort, thanks to the lush tropical plants, gazebos, and landscaping. It is an ideal space for a relaxing break in the middle of the city.
The fitness center goes beyond the standard hotel gym, offering GX programs and yoga classes. It features a pleasant environment with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the garden, and the well-equipped shower and sauna facilities make it a great choice for active travelers.
The staff were generally very friendly, and their service toward Globalist members felt natural and attentive. They provided clear, thorough explanations regarding our room upgrade and the use of the lounge and breakfast facilities, ensuring a smooth stay.
Grand Hyatt Jakarta is popular for local weekend staycations, so we recommend booking in advance if you are staying on a Friday or Saturday. Your choice of room view depends on your preference: the Bundaran view offers a vibrant city atmosphere but comes with potential noise, while pool-facing rooms are much quieter. For Globalists, the ability to use both the lounge and the main restaurant for breakfast adds significant value. Given the reasonable rates and high level of service, this is one of the most recommendable hotels in Jakarta.
