Bundaran HI
RR4F+264, RT.1/RW.5, Menteng, Central Jakarta City, Jakarta 10310, Indonesia
Located in the heart of Bundaran HI with direct mall access and a Bali-resort-style outdoor pool, it is an excellent choice for a city getaway.
Grand Hyatt Jakarta is located directly in front of the iconic Bundaran HI, offering a prime location with direct access to the Plaza Indonesia shopping mall. Its central position makes it well-suited for both business and leisure travel. During the year-end season, the lobby features a large Christmas tree and festive decor, capturing the warm and vibrant holiday atmosphere typical of Southeast Asia.
As a Globalist, the benefits significantly enhanced the stay. I had flexible access to both the Club Lounge and the main restaurant for breakfast. On the final day, I was upgraded to a Grand Suite with a view of Bundaran HI, allowing for a relaxing perspective of the city. Given the reasonable room rates, the overall service level—including the room condition, the diverse breakfast spread, and the outdoor pool that feels like a Bali resort—is high, making this one of the most recommendable hotels for travelers visiting Jakarta.
We spent the first two nights in a Club Access King room and were upgraded to a Grand Suite with a Bundaran View on our final day as a Globalist benefit. The Grand Suite features the classic Grand Hyatt layout with a separate living room and bedroom; it was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a rollaway bed, making it well-suited for balancing work and relaxation. The window seat and cozy armchair area were perfect for taking in the Jakarta city views, and the marble bathroom, equipped with double vanities and a separate soaking tub, was very convenient throughout our stay. Note that due to the central city location, the Bundaran View rooms can be subject to traffic and motorbike noise late into the night. If you prefer a quieter environment, rooms facing the pool are a much better choice.
The Club Lounge at Grand Hyatt Jakarta provided a very satisfying experience for a Globalist. The staff, both inside and outside the lounge, were attentive and kind. With services ranging from breakfast to afternoon tea and evening cocktails, it was a great place to relax before or after heading out. A notable feature is the dedicated smoking area inside the lounge.
The afternoon tea service runs from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM and includes light refreshments like cakes and cookies. It was a wonderful time to enjoy coffee while overlooking the Jakarta city skyline from the quiet lounge.
The happy hour, held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, offers enough variety—including sushi, kimbap, and chicken dishes—to serve as a light dinner. The premium liquor selection, including Appleton Rum, Jack Daniel's, and East Indies Gin, was impressive, and the staff would prepare and serve custom cocktails to our table upon request. Given the high cost of alcohol in Indonesia, the ability to enjoy drinks in the lounge is a significant Globalist benefit.
This was one of the highlights of our stay. As Globalists, we had the flexibility to use either the Club Lounge or the main restaurant for breakfast. From the second day on, we opted for the main restaurant due to its much wider selection. The spread was excellent, featuring local Indonesian dishes like Bakso (meatball noodle soup), fresh salads, made-to-order pancakes, Nutella croissants, and an ice cream station for children. The made-to-order fresh vegetable salad and the strawberry banana smoothie were particularly memorable.
Despite being in the heart of the city, the outdoor pool area—with its lush tropical plants, gazebos, and landscaping—creates a resort-like atmosphere reminiscent of Bali. It is an optimal space for a relaxing break within the city.
The fitness center goes beyond standard hotel gym offerings, featuring GX programs and yoga classes. It provides a pleasant environment with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the garden, and the well-equipped shower and sauna facilities make it highly satisfying for travelers who enjoy working out.
The staff were generally very kind, and their service toward Globalist members felt natural and attentive. They provided thorough explanations regarding room upgrades and lounge/breakfast access, ensuring a comfortable stay throughout.
Grand Hyatt Jakarta is popular for local weekend staycations, so booking in advance for Friday and Saturday nights is recommended. Room views are a matter of preference: the Bundaran View offers a vibrant city atmosphere but comes with potential noise, while pool-facing rooms are much quieter. For Globalists, the ability to utilize both the lounge and the main restaurant for breakfast adds significant value. Given the reasonable rates and high level of service, this is one of the most recommendable hotels in Jakarta.
