Hyatt Globalist Benefits: What We Actually Got at 48 Hotels

On paper, Hyatt Globalist benefits are simple: waived resort fees, free parking on award stays, breakfast or club lounge access, suite upgrades, and 4 p.m. late checkout. At the front desk, the questions start. Where is breakfast when there is no lounge? Is parking really free? What happens to the credits bundled into a destination fee? This guide is our answer, built from our own Globalist stays at 48 Hyatt hotels. Every hotel name links to the full stay review, and the numbers and hotel lists here update automatically as we publish new stays.

Globalist benefits at a glance

  • Resort and destination fees waived: on cash stays and award stays alike. 24 of the hotels we stayed at charged a fee of $20 to $150 per night, and every one of them was waived.
  • Free parking: only on award stays booked with points. On cash stays, Globalists pay for parking. Posted self-parking rates at the US hotels we stayed at ranged widely, from $5 to $75 a night.
  • Breakfast or club lounge: hotels with a club lounge give you lounge access; hotels without one serve a restaurant breakfast. Hyatt Place and Hyatt House include breakfast for every guest anyway.
  • Room upgrades: at check-in you get the best available room, including standard suites. Across 48 stays we received a suite 22 times and a higher room category 8 times.
  • 4 p.m. late checkout: available on request, with limits at resorts and convention hotels. Our records show 4 p.m. at 25 hotels and 2 p.m. at 3.
  • Annual awards: Suite Upgrade Awards, a Category 1-7 Free Night Award, and Guest of Honor Awards are issued each year. The exact terms change, so treat the World of Hyatt terms and conditions as the source of truth.

Globalist status takes 60 qualifying nights or 100,000 Base Points in a calendar year. What follows is how each benefit actually played out on property.

Are resort fees really waived everywhere?

Yes, and this is the most dependable Globalist benefit. Many US resorts and city hotels add a resort or destination fee per night on top of the room rate, and Globalists have it waived regardless of how the stay was booked. Here are the fee-charging hotels in our records with the posted nightly amount.

A few things the amounts do not show. Miraval Austin charges a percentage of the room rate rather than a flat fee, which made it the most expensive. Alila Napa Valley is waiving its fee for all guests on bookings through March 15, 2027, for its fifth anniversary. At Andaz Maui the fee bundles GoPro rentals, guided kayak tours, and snorkel gear, and we could still use them with the fee waived. The Disney and Universal shuttles at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress worked the same way.

One thing to watch is the credit attached to a destination fee. At hotels like Hyatt Regency Seattle, Grand Hyatt San Antonio, and Hyatt Regency New Orleans, where the fee includes a dining credit, the credit usually disappears along with the waived fee. Each hotel handled it a little differently, so it is worth asking at check-in: "The fee is waived for Globalists. Does the credit still apply?"

Some US hotels have no resort fee at all. Alila Ventana Big Sur, Grand Hyatt Denver, Hyatt Regency Irvine, Hyatt Regency Newport Beach West charge none, which makes them easy to recommend to travel companions without status. Outside the United States, resort fees are rare. Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa has no resort fee, but government taxes and a service charge apply.

Do Globalists get free parking?

Only on award stays. On a cash booking, a Globalist pays the posted parking rate. Plenty of members learn this at checkout, when $60 a night has quietly appeared on the folio.

We parked free on award stays at 15 hotels: Alila Ventana Big Sur, Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, Carmel Valley Ranch, Grand Hyatt Jeju, Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel & Residences, Hana-Maui Resort, Hyatt House Scottsdale/Old Town, Hyatt Place Bozeman Yellowstone Airport, Hyatt Place Dubai Wasl District, Hyatt Place Phoenix-North, Hyatt Place Tucson-Central, Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World New York, Hyatt Regency Malta, Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa, Miraval Austin Resort and Spa. The savings were biggest at resorts with steep rates, and hotels outside the US often offered free parking to begin with.

These are the daily parking rates we recorded at US hotels. On an award stay this is what you save; on a cash stay it is what you pay.

At valet-only hotels, confirm that the free parking benefit covers valet. In our experience valet-only properties waived the valet charge, while hotels with both self and valet parking sometimes limited the benefit to self-parking. At Hyatt Regency Vancouver we used valet as a Globalist benefit.

Where is breakfast served, and for how many people?

It depends on the type of hotel.

The benefit covers guests registered to the same room, and two adults plus two children is the usual limit. Hotels apply it slightly differently, so have the front desk confirm the breakfast headcount at check-in to avoid a folio dispute. Some hotels have scaled back their lounge and moved breakfast to the restaurant. Hyatt Regency Seattle now runs its lounge mainly as a workspace, so our breakfast was in the restaurant.

Which hotels have a club lounge, and which were the best?

Of the 48 hotels, 13 had an operating club lounge: Grand Hyatt Athens, Grand Hyatt Jakarta, Grand Hyatt Jeju, Grand Hyatt Mumbai Hotel & Residences, Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk, Hyatt Regency Irvine, Hyatt Regency JFK Airport at Resorts World New York, Hyatt Regency Malta, Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, Hyatt Regency Seattle, Hyatt Regency Vancouver, Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. With a lounge you get afternoon tea and an evening happy hour on top of breakfast, so two meals a day in the lounge is realistic.

Many Hyatt Regency hotels in the US keep their lounge closed. If the lounge is the reason you are booking, check the hotel page for Regency Club or Grand Club availability and hours before you commit.

How often do Globalists get a suite upgrade?

Globalists are upgraded at check-in to the best available room, including standard suites. In our records that meant a suite at 22 of 48 hotels (46%) and a higher room category at 8. The rest stayed in the room type booked.

The pattern is clear. Grand Hyatts in Asia and Europe and city-center Regencies upgrade to suites readily, while Hawaii resorts and US resorts in peak season usually stop at a better standard room. If you need a guaranteed suite, apply one of the annual Suite Upgrade Awards when you book.

Is 4 p.m. late checkout guaranteed?

Globalists can request checkout as late as 4 p.m., with the caveat that resorts and convention hotels may limit it. In our records 25 hotels gave us 4 p.m., while Grand Hyatt Jeju, Hana-Maui Resort, Hyatt Regency Orange County offered 2 p.m. On some stays we did not ask or did not need it, so the remainder were not all refusals.

Two habits help. Ask at check-in rather than on the morning of departure, and ask through the Hyatt app chat so the request is on record regardless of who is at the desk.

How do award stays and cash stays differ?

  • Both: waived resort fees, breakfast or lounge, room upgrades, late checkout, premium internet
  • Award stays only: free parking
  • Cash stays only: Base Points plus the 30% Globalist bonus, and qualifying nights

At a resort where parking costs more than $50 a night, booking the same hotel on points comes out more than $50 a night ahead of paying cash. At a city hotel where you will not have a car, a cash stay that earns nights and points is the better trade.

Frequently asked questions

Do Globalist benefits apply at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House? Yes. Breakfast is free for everyone anyway, and on top of that you get the resort fee waiver (where one exists, as at Hyatt Place Waikiki), free parking on award stays, room upgrades, and late checkout. At Hyatt Place Dubai we were upgraded to a One-Bedroom Suite.

Do the benefits apply at every property you can book through Hyatt? No. Partner properties such as Under Canvas North Yellowstone can be booked and earn through World of Hyatt, but Globalist benefits like breakfast and late checkout do not apply. We leave those stays out of the numbers in this guide.

Does the resort fee benefit matter outside the US? Rarely, because most hotels abroad do not charge one. What you get instead is far more consistent lounge access and suite upgrades. Grand Hyatt Jakarta, Grand Hyatt Athens, and Grand Hyatt Jeju are good examples.

If the resort fee is waived, do I lose the activities it includes? In our experience, no. We used the kayak tour and snorkel gear at Andaz Maui and the theme park shuttles at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress with the fee waived. Dining credits, however, usually do go away.

Can I switch from lounge breakfast to the restaurant? That is up to the hotel. When the lounge is closed for the day or running a reduced service, the restaurant breakfast is the standard substitute; otherwise the lounge is the default.
