A serene setting on Lake Travis that allows for a focused experience on all-inclusive wellness programs and adult-only relaxation.
Miraval Austin Resort & Spa is an adults-only wellness resort in the Texas Hill Country that centers on the brand's 'Life in Balance' philosophy, emphasizing mindfulness, movement, and intentional rest. Overlooking Lake Travis, the resort maintains a serene atmosphere, encouraging guests to disconnect from daily life through 'Miraval Mode,' which discourages the use of digital devices in most areas.
Unlike typical activity-focused resorts, the all-inclusive dining, diverse wellness programming, and walking trails create a slower pace. It was an environment conducive to intentional downtime rather than filling the schedule with activities.
One caveat: there were a high volume of pre-arrival emails. While the information provided was useful, the frequency of communication felt somewhat at odds with the resort's core identity of digital detox.
I stayed in a Dreamcatcher Queen Room on the first floor at Miraval Austin Resort & Spa without an upgrade. The first-floor room connected naturally to the outdoor space, creating a cozy atmosphere similar to having a small private backyard. It offered a slow, tranquil rhythm typical of a resort, distinct from a city hotel.
Miraval Austin provides healthy meals using ingredients harvested from the resort's farm, and all meals and non-alcoholic beverages are included in an all-inclusive format. The main dining venue, Hilltop Crossings Kitchen, operates as an open kitchen, and breakfast is served as a combination of a la carte ordering and a buffet. The menu was generally clean and healthy, with the ‘Egg in a Nest’ dish being particularly memorable.
During the day, in addition to lunch at Hilltop Crossings Kitchen, various refreshments such as non-alcoholic cocktails, protein drinks, coffee, tea, yogurt, fruit, and healthy desserts are available in the cafe area. These snacks were convenient for replenishing energy between the resort's daily activities.
Dinner is served more like a formal course meal compared to breakfast or lunch. While the menu, which considers a balance of health and nutrition, was well-constructed, the flavors themselves were not particularly intense or memorable for my personal palate.
The two infinity pools at the resort each offer a different atmosphere for relaxation. The pool near the fitness center and pool bar has a lively and social vibe, while the pool next to the spa is much quieter and better for static relaxation. The environment, integrated with the surrounding nature, is excellent; it is nature-friendly enough to hear birds chirping in the morning or encounter red cardinals flying among the trees.
The resort is well-equipped with group exercise facilities. You can participate in a variety of activity programs such as yoga, meditation, and challenging courses. In addition to paid experiences like the Bee Keeper program, a satisfying range of complimentary activities is provided.
All staff at the resort were kind and attentive, ensuring guests could stay comfortably.
Both valet and self-parking are available free of charge at Miraval Austin.
Other fees: A 25% resort fee is charged per night in addition to the room rate. During my stay, I received a waiver for the resort fee through a Globalist point redemption.

[About Miraval]
Miraval is a wellness resort brand that began in Arizona in 1995, focusing on mindfulness, physical activity, and intentional rest under the philosophy of ‘Life in Balance.’ It currently operates wellness-focused resorts in Arizona, Austin, and the Berkshires. ‘Miraval’ means ‘View of the Valley’ in Spanish, and the brand embodies a slow-paced rest in harmony with nature.
[A Self-Care Resort Great for Solo Travelers]
While many guests visit with couples or friends, there are also many solo travelers. Although some perceive it as a destination primarily for girls' trips, my experience felt strongly that it is a place for anyone seeking ‘Self-Care’ regardless of gender. It is an environment suitable for focusing on one's own routine and condition without feeling awkward while staying alone. Thanks to various complimentary activities, there is no time to be bored even when alone, and an open atmosphere is formed where guests with similar purposes naturally converse and interact.
