This Stay at a Glance

This was the property I was most looking forward to during our Hawaii trip. While it required a significant number of points due to its high category, the stay was satisfying enough to justify the cost.

Andaz Maui is well-suited for couples seeking a quiet getaway or families with young children. Located on Maui’s west coast, it offers excellent sunset views and maintains a calm, relaxed atmosphere throughout.

Service from the staff, including Wonji, was friendly and attentive. The lotus-lined entrance and the signature four-tiered infinity pool are the property's standout features.

Room Upgrade Experience

Room on this stayKing Bed Ocean View

I was upgraded to a King Bed Ocean View room. While not a suite, the view of the distant Pacific was impressive. The room overlooks the tiered swimming pools and the luau stage, which created a great atmosphere at sunset. I enjoyed the sofa and the terrace; lying in bed while looking out at the sky and palm trees was a highlight. The layout is unique, with the bathroom and closet in the hallway, and the bathroom itself is quite spacious. The generous shower area is a plus, though the flow is slightly awkward, as you have to step away from the shower head to reach the shampoo and body wash.

During my May 2025 stay, the King Bed Ocean View room offered views of the Maui landscape from the terrace. The room included wooden furniture and a sofa area, making it functional for both relaxing and working.
I spent time watching the Maui ocean and sunset through the floor-to-ceiling windows in my King Bed Ocean View room at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort. The room layout, featuring a chair by the window for taking in the view, was impressive.

The bathroom in the King Bed Ocean View room at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort features a wooden ladder shelf for amenities and towels, reflecting the resort's natural, relaxed aesthetic.
Instead of single-use plastic, the guest rooms at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort provide refillable aluminum water bottles, which made it convenient to stay hydrated while reducing waste during my stay.

Breakfast Experience

World of Hyatt Globalist members receive a complimentary breakfast buffet. The selection is diverse and abundant; I particularly enjoyed the large bowls of fresh blueberries. Egg dishes are ordered from a server, while other items are available at the buffet. The menu rotates daily, keeping it fresh, and the ocean view makes for a pleasant start to the day. However, small birds frequently flying into the restaurant area can be a nuisance.

The breakfast buffet at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort featured a variety of baked goods, including gluten-free cascaron. Each item was clearly labeled with its ingredients, making it easy to choose options during breakfast.
The pineapple raspberry cobbler at the Andaz Maui breakfast buffet had a warm, crispy texture. The use of local Hawaiian fruit made for a more varied breakfast selection.
At the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort breakfast buffet, I enjoyed a variety of fresh, healthy juices every morning, such as pineapple turmeric and apple ginger.

Dining Experience

Dinner

Dining costs within the resort are high. The valet area is often congested during meal times, a common challenge for guests. We dined at Morimoto; the food was good, but service was somewhat slow. It wasn't dull, as we could watch the nearby luau while we waited, but the delays made the atmosphere at neighboring tables feel a bit tense. If you are looking for better value, dining in the nearby town is a viable alternative.

Pools & Facilities Experience

Outdoor poolBeach access

The four-tiered outdoor infinity pool is the signature feature of Andaz Maui. The top pool is closer to the bar and has a more adult-oriented atmosphere, while the lower pools are designed to blend naturally into the beach.

Before You Book

Wailea is a high-end resort area on the southwest coast of Maui, where several properties, including Andaz Maui, are clustered. In the evening, a paid luau performance is held against the ocean backdrop, adding to the resort's atmosphere. The venue is close to the outdoor seating at Morimoto, allowing you to watch the show while dining. However, the performance lasts nearly three hours, which can feel quite long. Even as a traditional show, it continues from the time you finish dinner until you return to your room, which many guests may find excessive.

Haleakalā

Haleakalā, Hawaii 96790, USA

It’s rare to find a property that puts the summit of Haleakalā National Park within an hour’s drive. While most visitors endure the hassle of an early morning commute to catch the sunrise, the location of Andaz Maui makes the trip to the park much more relaxed. Even without a sunrise reservation, the easy access alone made for a satisfying stay.

MauiWine

MauiWine, famous for its sweet pineapple wine and unique setting, is just a short drive from the Andaz, making it an easy addition to your itinerary.

3

Lahaina

Lahaina, HI, USA

Andaz Maui is located near Lahaina, a town historically known as a whaling village. While it was once a popular destination for visitors, the scars of the major wildfire from two years ago remain visible throughout the area. The iconic giant banyan tree is gone, and the once-vibrant local atmosphere is difficult to find. Due to Maui's traffic conditions and limited recovery infrastructure, rebuilding the town will likely take a significant amount of time. Seeing house foundations reduced to stone steps is sobering, but watching a rainbow appear over the town, I hope it regains its former vitality soon.
