This Stay at a Glance

Hyatt Regency New Orleans is a large convention hotel located in the heart of New Orleans, serving as a practical base for Mardi Gras season or general sightseeing. It is within walking distance of the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, and the Central Business District (CBD), where major parades take place, yet it remains far enough from the noise and crowds of the main tourist hubs to provide a relatively quiet stay. Even during Mardi Gras, the hotel's immediate surroundings feel secure and stable, making it easy to return after enjoying the city's nightlife. It is a suitable choice for travelers looking to balance sightseeing with a comfortable place to rest.

The chandelier and curved staircase in the lobby were the focal point of the Hyatt Regency New Orleans, serving as an impressive architectural feature I passed by throughout my stay.
The iconic atrium lobby at Hyatt Regency New Orleans feels very open, providing a clear view of the various dining options and seating areas available to guests.
The jazz band statue in the park near Hyatt Regency New Orleans captures the city's musical spirit and serves as a great spot to soak in the local atmosphere while walking around the hotel.

Room Upgrade Experience

Room on this stayJunior Suite

I received a suite upgrade as a World of Hyatt Globalist benefit. The room was spacious and comfortable overall. Given the nature of traveling in New Orleans, I spent much of my time outdoors, so the location was more of a highlight than the room interior. Even during Mardi Gras, the suite provided a relaxing space to rest and was comfortable enough to recover after long days of walking.

During my February 2023 stay at Hyatt Regency New Orleans, I used the spacious sofa area in the Junior Suite to organize my schedule and relax.
During my February 2023 stay, the Junior Suite provided a separate living and workspace, which was convenient for balancing laptop work and downtime. The in-room coffee machine and spacious sofa made the stay comfortable.

During my February 2023 stay, the Junior Suite bathroom featured a black marble countertop paired with chrome accents. The lower shelf was well-stocked with towels, which was convenient throughout my stay.

Breakfast Experience

The most satisfying aspect of the Hyatt Regency New Orleans was the food and beverage credit provided as a Globalist benefit. It was convenient to use the credit flexibly for lunch or other meals depending on my schedule, rather than being limited to the breakfast buffet. Since schedules in New Orleans often run late into the night, not being tied to breakfast hours was a major advantage. The Creole-style gumbo I tasted at the hotel restaurant was memorable, featuring the rich, distinct flavors of the American South.

I tried the local gumbo during breakfast at Hyatt Regency New Orleans; it was a nice touch to experience regional flavors within the hotel.

Pools & Facilities Experience

Outdoor pool

As a large convention hotel, it features a spacious lobby and a variety of restaurant and bar facilities. There are restaurants and a lounge where you can use the Daily Dining Credit. On days when NFL games or major concerts are held at the Caesars Superdome right in front of the hotel, the entire city takes on a lively atmosphere. Depending on the timing, you may encounter famous athletes or performers.

The fitness center at Hyatt Regency New Orleans features floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a view of the Caesars Superdome and the city, allowing for a scenic workout experience.
I used the fitness center every morning during my stay to enjoy the view of downtown New Orleans and the Mississippi River through the floor-to-ceiling windows while working out.

Before You Book

If your goal is sightseeing in New Orleans, the location of the Hyatt Regency New Orleans is its greatest strength. It is within walking distance of the French Quarter, Bourbon Street, and the Mardi Gras parade routes, yet it remains quieter and more comfortable than hotels in the heart of the tourist district. During Mardi Gras or major sporting events, demand surges and room rates rise significantly, so it is best to book as early as possible. Being right next to the Caesars Superdome, the hotel atmosphere can change drastically depending on the schedule of major events.
