Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa is a large resort located in Carlsbad, North San Diego County. It is a quintessential Southern California getaway featuring extensive amenities including a golf course, swimming pools, and a spa.

The resort is expansive, making it easy to relax on-site while moving between the guest rooms, restaurants, pools, and the golf course. It is well-suited for travelers looking to spend a leisurely time within the resort rather than focusing on off-site sightseeing.

Due to my stay coinciding with the Christmas holiday, I did not receive a suite upgrade, but the standard room was sufficiently spacious. The Christmas decorations throughout the property and the resort's characteristically calm and warm atmosphere were memorable.

The hot tubs remain open during the winter season, which was convenient for relaxing after a round of golf or a busy day.

During my visit, a large gingerbread house was on display in the lobby for the Christmas season, and the resort was decorated for the holidays, making it pleasant for walks. The Aviara Golf Club, designed by Arnold Palmer, features beautiful landscaping and a well-spaced course layout.

Park Hyatt Aviara is better suited for guests looking to enjoy the resort facilities rather than sightseeing. The atmosphere is ideal for both golf travelers and families looking to relax around the pool and spa. During peak seasons and holidays, especially around Christmas and the end of the year, demand is high, which may lower the chances of a room upgrade. The resort features well-maintained water slides and family pools, which should be a plus for families traveling with young children.
