This Stay at a Glance

Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach is an urban-style hotel located in the heart of Waikiki. It is better suited for those looking to enjoy the city's dining, shopping, and nightlife rather than a traditional beach resort experience. While the name includes 'Waikiki Beach,' the property is not beachfront; however, its central location in the middle of Waikiki’s vibrant streets makes it highly convenient for accessing local infrastructure on foot.

Globalist members should note that the benefits here differ significantly from what one might expect at a resort-style Hyatt. There is no full-service breakfast restaurant on-site, and the hotel lacks a lounge. This property is best for travelers who prefer an urban Waikiki atmosphere over a quiet retreat. If beach access and extensive on-site amenities are your priorities, the nearby Hyatt Regency Waikiki may be a more suitable alternative.

Room Upgrade Experience

Room on this stay1 King and 1 Queen Bed Deluxe

As a Globalist, I was offered a suite upgrade, but the available rooms were on lower floors. Given the hotel's layout, the ocean view is limited, so I opted for a 1 King and 1 Queen Bed Deluxe room on the 17th floor to enjoy the city and mountain views instead. The floor-to-ceiling windows provided great natural light and a satisfying view of the Honolulu skyline. The room was well-maintained and equipped with essential amenities like a Keurig coffee maker, mini-fridge, and safe. The bathroom features large-format pump toiletries and Coco Mango scented body lotion.

However, due to its location in the heart of Waikiki, noise is a factor. Music and motorcycle sounds from the street carry up to the rooms late into the night. While this might be a plus if you enjoy a lively atmosphere, it can be disruptive if you are sensitive to noise or have early plans the next day.

Breakfast Experience

There is no full-service breakfast restaurant on-site, which may be disappointing for those expecting a traditional Globalist breakfast benefit. However, the hotel is surrounded by numerous dining options, making it very convenient to eat out. Notably, there is a food court in the basement of the building next door with a variety of Asian restaurants, which is a great option for a quick meal.

Pools & Facilities Experience

Outdoor poolMicrowave

The outdoor pool has an open-air design surrounded by city buildings, making it a calm spot to relax at sunset. There are sun loungers in the pool area and a hot tub where you can enjoy the city views while in the water. However, it is not a large resort-style hotel, so the pool is somewhat compact and not really a destination in itself.

The lobby sundry shop at Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach stocks a variety of snacks, cup noodles, and branded merchandise like hats, which came in handy for quick needs during our stay.

Before You Book

It is important to keep in mind that Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach is a city hotel, not a beach resort. It is perfectly located if you plan to explore central Waikiki on foot or enjoy the nearby restaurants and bars late into the evening. Conversely, if you prioritize Globalist benefits, on-site breakfast, lounge access, and direct beach proximity, the Hyatt Regency Waikiki might be a better choice at a similar point level. Because city noise is significant, I recommend requesting a high-floor room or considering other accommodations if you are looking for a quiet retreat.
