This Stay at a Glance

Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach is a practical, value-driven hotel located just a 2-3 minute walk from the sand. Compared to the massive beachfront resorts, it offers more reasonable nightly rates and point redemptions, making it a solid choice for travelers looking to balance cost and utility in Waikiki. While it lacks the grandeur of a luxury property, it delivers the consistent service and comfortable rooms expected from the Hyatt brand, serving as an ideal base for an active itinerary.

Globalist members receive tangible perks, including room upgrades and 4:00 PM late checkout. A significant advantage is that the steep resort and parking fees typical in Hawaii are waived on award stays. While the long elevator wait times are a drawback, the proximity to the beach, access to nearby amenities, and the friendly staff help offset this. For travelers who spend more time exploring than in their room, this is one of the most efficient lodging options in Waikiki.

Room Upgrade Experience

Room on this stayPartial Ocean View

The Partial Ocean View room assigned as a Globalist benefit featured the practical layout typical of Hyatt Place. The separate seating area with a sofa and ottoman was perfect for taking in the city views, and the twin beds with soft headboard lighting made for a clean, comfortable space. The balcony, equipped with a table and chairs, offered a relaxing view of the Waikiki coastline and the vibrant streets between the high-rises. While it lacks the expansive vistas of an oceanfront room, it offers high value for points redemptions and is well-suited for travelers who spend more time exploring than in the room.

Breakfast Experience

Complimentary breakfast

Breakfast follows the standard Hyatt Place format, offering a functional morning meal. The buffet area was well-maintained, featuring individually packaged bagels, fresh fruit, and yogurt. It was a thoughtful touch to see that almond and soy milk are available upon request, and the unlimited Hawaiian Paradise coffee was a highlight. The outdoor terrace is a pleasant spot to enjoy the clear Hawaiian weather. While it lacks the elaborate spread of a luxury resort, it is sufficient for a fresh, hearty start to the day.

Pools & Facilities Experience

Outdoor pool

The 3rd-floor outdoor pool is modest, but suitable for a light swim and relaxing in the city. It is a compact space, making it a good spot to rest after beach activities. During breakfast hours, the pool area is sometimes accessible through the fitness center.

The lobby level features a business center and a bar area, and the complimentary access to Hawaiian Paradise coffee throughout the stay was convenient. The blue mosaic wall fountain and calm furniture arrangement in the lobby add to the hotel's comfortable atmosphere. The hotel also provides a free beach towel rental service, which can be conveniently returned in the lobby. The only downside to this hotel was the elevator situation. There were too few elevators for the number of guests, and they were quite slow, leading to longer-than-expected wait times whenever we headed to or from our room.

Before You Book

Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach is a cost-effective property optimized for travelers seeking a reasonable price point rather than a luxury resort experience. It is located a 2-3 minute walk from the beach, and the proximity to ABC Stores and various restaurants makes exploring on foot very convenient. A clear drawback is the limited number and slow speed of the elevators relative to the guest capacity, which can lead to long wait times during peak periods. However, the staff's friendly service helped offset this. While there is no club lounge or large-scale resort facilities, the low points requirement, potential for room upgrades, and waived fees make it one of the most practical choices in Waikiki.
