This Stay at a Glance

This resort was a quiet place to rest after the challenging 'Road to Hana' drive. As the first resort in the Hana area, it shows some signs of age, but the overall maintenance was good. Located about a 5-minute drive from Black Sand Beach, it was a convenient final stop for my Road to Hana journey.

Room Upgrade Experience

Room on this stay1 King Bed Ocean View Bungalow

I stayed in a 1 King Bed Ocean View Bungalow. While classified as a suite, it does not have a fully separated living room and bedroom. It features a simple wet bar and a spacious terrace with a distant ocean view. Oceanfront rooms are located directly facing the water, whereas the ocean view rooms require stepping out onto the terrace to see the sea. My room was an ocean view type, and I noted that some oceanfront room terraces are equipped with hot tubs.

The bathroom in the 1 King Bed Ocean View Bungalow had a relaxing resort feel thanks to the natural-textured sink and soft lighting. The ample storage space made it convenient to organize my belongings during the stay.
During my spring 2025 stay, I spent time on the private terrace of my 1 King Bed Ocean View Bungalow, where the view of the surrounding meadows and the ocean was a highlight.

The bathroom in the 1 King Bed Ocean View Bungalow featured a calm color palette and natural materials. The open layout, which connects to the bedroom via the mirror, made the room feel more spacious.

Breakfast Experience

The breakfast restaurant is only open during morning hours. Perhaps due to the island location, the freshness of the ingredients was average. The beef I ordered was a bit tough and arrived more well-done than the medium I requested. However, the restaurant atmosphere overlooking the resort gardens was pleasant, and the staff were generally friendly.

Breakfast at Hana-Maui Resort; enjoyed a relaxed meal of ramen and cold drinks while taking in the view of the Maui landscape from the terrace.

Pools & Facilities Experience

There are two outdoor pools. One is a standard resort-style pool located near the gym, and the other is a tiered pool designed near the ocean, which is great for enjoying the natural scenery of the Hana region.

Bicycle rental services are available for exploring the surrounding area.

The fitness center at Hana-Maui Resort features an open-air design that looks out onto the pool and gardens; I spent time here every morning during my stay.

Service Impressions

Service notesExcellentWhat stood out about serviceProactive recognition, Globalist recognition

The staff were generally friendly and proactive, reflecting a sense of pride as the first resort in the Hana area. Since vehicle access is restricted in the bungalow area, staff assisted with transporting luggage from the car to the room during check-in and check-out.

Checked into Hana-Maui Resort in spring 2025 and was greeted with fresh local juice and a hibiscus flower, a nice touch reflecting the Hawaiian setting.

Resort Fee & Parking Check

The outdoor parking area is limited in space, and because there are many trees and birds in the vicinity, you need to be careful about vehicle maintenance.

Other fees: The resort fee was waived as I was staying on a World of Hyatt Globalist award stay.

Before You Book

The Road to Hana takes a long time to travel, so a two-night stay in the Hana area felt relaxed. Given the limited number of shops and restaurants in the area, it is advisable to bring simple food or necessary supplies if you plan to check in late.

There is a food truck operating right next to the resort. The resort's own restaurant is only open for breakfast, and since there is only one other restaurant nearby, most guests use the food truck. The food quality is decent.
