Under Canvas North Yellowstone - Paradise Valley Review

I stayed at Under Canvas North Yellowstone – Paradise Valley for one night on August 28, 2026. With cash rates hovering around $570 or 40,000 World of Hyatt points, the cost is significantly higher than a typical Hyatt property. It is important to note that even as a Globalist, you should not expect standard perks like complimentary breakfast or 4:00 PM late checkout here.

That said, my reason for choosing this property was clear: I wanted an experience that went beyond a standard hotel stay, allowing me to fully immerse myself in nature during my Yellowstone trip. I stayed in a suite-style tent that sleeps up to four, featuring a king bed and a separate lounge area with a sofa bed. While it differs from a traditional hotel suite, the tent includes a private bathroom and shower, which mitigates the usual inconveniences of glamping. Beyond the physical space, the real value lies in the surroundings—the mountain ranges and river views of Paradise Valley from the deck, and the wildlife, including deer and eagles, passing by. If you view this as booking a day in nature rather than a standard hotel stay, the unique environment provides sufficient value.

The Junior Suite tent I booked includes a bedroom with a king bed and an adjoining lounge with a sofa bed, sleeping up to four. If you are expecting a traditional hotel suite, the space may feel compact, and the bedroom and living area are not fully separated by a door. However, having a private en-suite bathroom—with a shower, sink, and flush toilet—is a major advantage in a glamping setting, allowing for warm showers and no need to head outside at night. More important than the room category is the view from the deck. The terrace overlooks the Paradise Valley mountains and the river; the real value here is the nature immersion, where you might spot wild deer or eagles hunting nearby.

Breakfast is not included in the room rate. Rather than dining on-site, it is better to head into the nearby town of Livingston to enjoy the local atmosphere and grab a meal.

The most important amenity here is not a TV or a lounge, but nature itself. The complimentary nightly s'mores program at the fire pit is the most popular activity. Marshmallows, chocolate, and crackers are provided in abundance, though it can be difficult to find a spot during peak evening hours as the fire pits get crowded. I was slightly disappointed that the crackers were a bit stale. While the environment is great for stargazing, if the weather doesn't cooperate, the best way to enjoy this place is to fully embrace the sounds of nature. It is not a flashy resort program, but sitting around the campfire fits the Under Canvas atmosphere perfectly.

You must park in an outdoor lot separate from the tent area. After parking, you gather your luggage and are transported to your tent via golf cart.

There are no specific benefits for Globalist members. Checkout is quite early at 10:00 AM, though I was able to extend it to 11:00 AM upon request. Do not expect the luxury service or 4:00 PM late checkout typical of Hyatt hotels; you should approach this stay as a nature retreat rather than a standard hotel experience. The quality of the stay is heavily dependent on the weather. I had hoped to see the stars, but cloudy skies prevented it; however, falling asleep to the sound of rain on the tent canvas became a unique memory you simply cannot get in a hotel.
