A private island resort in the Huvadhoo Atoll, well-suited for a quiet retreat by the beach or the outdoor pool.
Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa is a private island resort located in the Huvadhoo Atoll in the southern Maldives. The entire island functions as the resort, offering the quintessential Maldivian experience where guests and staff share the island space. During our stay, the mint-colored water, white sand beaches, and the serene atmosphere enveloping the island were particularly memorable. It is a suitable destination for travelers seeking a calm, restorative getaway focused on low-impact activities like yoga and meditation.
During this stay, we used both a Beach Pool Villa and an Overwater Sunset Villa. The Beach Pool Villa features a private pool and direct beach access, making it perfect for watching the sunrise from the sand right in front of the room. It felt like having my own private beach just a few steps away, and the outdoor shower—which allows for showering under the stars at night—really captured that open-air Maldivian feel. An indoor shower is also available for convenience. The Overwater Sunset Villa faces west, allowing us to watch the Maldivian sunset from both the terrace and the bedroom. Stairs from the terrace lead directly into the Indian Ocean, making it easy to return to the room after swimming or snorkeling. We even spotted a pod of dolphins passing by in the distance during our stay. Both room types have their own distinct charm, and I recommend experiencing both if possible.
Breakfast was one of the highlights of this stay. The variety of food was impressive, the overall quality was high, and the atmosphere by the pool—with the blue Maldivian sky and the breeze—was excellent. I particularly remember the self-service cocktail bar where you can mix your own Bloody Mary. If you aren't a heavy eater, the Globalist breakfast benefit is more than enough to keep you full, and we found that just having breakfast and dinner was sufficient without a full meal plan.
We visited the bar during the happy hour between breakfast and dinner for light bites and cocktails.
The resort operates several restaurants, and barbecue-style dining is available in the evenings. During our visit, the wooden reindeer decorations for the Christmas season blended well with the island atmosphere. While many guests opt for half-board or full-board, the breakfast was so satisfying that booking just breakfast and ordering dinner à la carte is a viable alternative.
The resort offers various wellness programs, including sunset yoga facing the ocean and aqua yoga in the pool. The resort is compact, making it easy to get around on foot, and it provides an environment well-suited to enjoying the rhythm of the Maldives, where you are surrounded by the sea all day.
You can encounter various marine life while snorkeling in the waters around the resort. However, many of the corals were bleached at the time of our visit. While the fish and the ocean scenery were beautiful, it is worth noting the current state of the reef if you are expecting healthy coral.
The staff were generally friendly, with a high proportion of younger employees. While the service style is different from the seasoned, traditional luxury hotel experience, their genuine effort to make guests feel comfortable was evident. I especially remember a staff member who proactively approached me to help with first aid when I got a small scratch from the coral.
Other fees: As is typical for Maldivian resorts, there is no separate resort fee, but government taxes and service charges apply.

Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa has limited accessibility, as it requires both a domestic flight and a speedboat transfer after arriving at the Maldives airport. The travel time is significant, so I recommend a stay of at least 3 nights. If you prioritize privacy and space, the Beach Pool Villa is suitable; if you want to be as close to the ocean as possible, the Overwater Villa is the better choice. If you don't eat large portions, booking a room with only breakfast included and paying for dinner à la carte is a good alternative to half or full-board packages. While it is not an adults-only resort, there are few activities or facilities for children, so please keep this in mind if traveling as a family.
